Marvel Phase 4 theory: Deadpool enters MCU in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
Now that Disney own Fox, the latter’s Marvel characters in the X-Men and Fantastic Four can finally join Marvel Studios’ MCU. But the big question is what to do with the foul-mouthed fourth-wall-breaking Deadpool? Ryan Reynolds’ Merc with a Mouth is so self-aware he’s in a movie, he even called Josh Brolin’s Cable “Thanos” during Deadpool 2. And now a popular new fan theory reckons the best way for Deadpool to enter the MCU is in Doctor Strange 2.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will presumably explore other realities, so perhaps Deadpool will leave the Fox X-Men universe for the MCU?
Reddit user jackramz argues: “I think the post-credits of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will be Doctor Strange closing up how he gets through the multiverse or something like that.
“However, before the portal or whatever closes, Wade Wilson[’s] Deadpool comes through and is happy he escaped the Fox universe.
“And he makes a bunch of references to the Fox-Disney merger and all the things he wants to do and Doctor Strange is so confused.”
They added: “I think Deadpool will have a role later on but I think similar to how Stan Lee cameoed I think Deadpool should appear in a cameo in each of the end credits scenes moving forward.”
Reynolds himself seems to appear that Deadpool will enter the MCU properly in Phase 5, which begins in 2022.
In a cryptic Instagram post celebrating the Deadpool footage leak, he wrote: “Investigation heading into year 5.
“Or as I call it, ‘Phase 5.’ The point is, I love conspiracy-yarn. #LeakAversary.”
This weekend Disney D23 takes place, which could see some more big Marvel Studios announcements.
After all, Marvel boss Kevin Feige hasn’t announced the release dates for Phase 5 movies.
These include Blade, Captain Marvel 2, Black Panther 2 and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3.
D23 takes place August 23-25, 2019.
