MasterChef’s Gregg Wallace reveals he’s taken different wives to same honeymoon destination
MasterChef frontman Gregg Wallace has stunned some fans by revealing he has gone to the same honeymoon destination with his different wives.
Greg, 57, was chatting with Sri Lankan chef Charith whilst the contestant took part in the skills test in the latest series of MasterChef: The Professionals.
Some viewers were both shocked and amused as Gregg made the remark, as they took to Twitter.
“Have you been to Sri Lanka?” asked Charith.
To which Gregg replied: “I love it there. I’ve honeymooned there a few times.”
“A few times?” replied Charith, laughing, as Greg too laughed.
Fans soon joined in on social media: “I love Sri Lankan food: I've honeymooned there a few times!" Gregg Wallace to Sir Lankan contestant on #Masterchef,” joked one.
And "Hold on! Did I just hear that right?? Gregg has taken his different wives to the same honeymoon spot??" commented another.
Gregg, who has presented MasterChef since 2015, has had four wives and has been divorced three times.
He was just 24 when he married his first wife Christine; the couple wed in 1991 and celebrated with pie and mash at a local café. The marriage was short, lasting just six weeks.
Two years on Gregg met Denise, a pastry chef. They married in 1999 and have to children together, Tom and Libby. They split five years later.
In 2009 Gregg met his third wife Heidi, a biology teacher, on social media, after striking up a relationship via Twitter. They married in 2010 but the marriage broke down and they divorced just 15 months later.
Then in 2013 Gregg met his current wife Anne-Marie Sterpini, again on Twitter. They married in 2016 with pal and former MasterChef presenter John Torode serving as best man in a ceremony at Hever Castle in Kent.
The couple’s first child, Sid, was born in May 2019.
Gregg has been one of the faces of MasterChef since 2015. Originally a green-grocer from Peckham, South London, he left school at 15 and started selling fruit and vegetables in Covent Garden Market.
As his company grew, he began supplying fruit and vegetables to some of the top restaurants and hotels in London. He then presented a food based radio show for the BBC, before joining Saturday Kitchen in 2002 and MasterChef in 2005.
In 2014 Gregg was a contestant on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing, he left the show in week two.
