Money Heist plot hole: Fans expose huge Tokyo and Rio blunder ‘That can’t be right’

Fans will remember the emotional moment in Money Heist season thee when Tokyo (played by Úrsula Corberó) and Rio (Miguel Herrán) parted ways in the season three finale. While it seems they won’t be getting back together anytime soon after getting caught up in all the drama of the heist, fans can’t help but reminisce over the earlier scenes of them getting together. However, this resulted in one fan picking up on a major plot hole.

Money Heist season three ended on multiple cliffhangers, but fans were shocked to see Rio break things off with Tokyo, after all, she was the one who broke up with him in the first episode of season three.

After Rio was captured by the Panama authorities, Tokyo was instrumental in reuniting the gang to bring him home.

In the penultimate episode of the series, the police traded Rio for some of the hostages in the stand-off at the Bank of Spain.

However, Rio then broke up with Tokyo in the finale which sent her into an absolute meltdown.

In an emotional scene between the pair, she said: “We had our fun, we had good moments but that wasn’t enough. We got wrapped up in all of this.”

When she reveals that she almost slept with Denver (Jaime Lorente), Rio is visibly upset.

Tokyo says as the final nail in the coffin for their romance: “Now, I’m wondering the same thing as you – how were we able to stay together for so long?”

However, one thing fans are even more confused about is their age gap.

It’s no secret that Tokyo is a fair few years older than Rio, but her exact age is pretty uncertain among the fandom.

Reddit user iReturnVidyatapes posted: “How much older was Tokyo supposed to be compared to Rio?

“Because for some reason I keep on thinking the subtitles suggested she was 15 years older than him, but also suggested she was 28? Which would make Rio 13… that can’t be right… how old was she?”

Other users seem convinced she is 15 years older than her former lover, but make him much older.

“Also when Tokyo it’s being questioned by Raquel, she tells Tokyo that if they “talk”, they could reduce their jail time to like 5 years (she and Rio), and that when he goes out, he will be a fresh and young man, like just graduated from college”

A second confirmed: “He’s 19, at one point the good detective talks about a 5 year sentence and that he’d be out by 24.”
