My Family star Gabriel Thomson looks unrecognisable 22 years on from sitcom debut

MY Family was one of the BBC's most popular comedies during its run from 2000 until 2011.

The show aired for 11 series and followed the antics of the Harper family including dad Ben (Robert Lindsay) and wife Susan (Zoë Wanamaker).

The couple had three children: Kris Marshall played their eldest son Nick, daughter Janey Harper was played by Daniela Denby-Ashe and Gabriel Thomson played youngest child, Michael Harper.

Now, a decade on since the final episode aired, viewers would be forgiven for not recognising Gabriel if they passed him in the street.

The actor, now 35, has ditched the glasses and floppy hair that he sported while playing Michael and now has a stylish cropped hairstyle and chiseled features.

In his Twitter profile picture, he is seen wearing a red velvet tuxedo jacket and holding a cigarette, while a Facebook picture saw him looking relaxed and tanned with a drink in hand.

Gabriel ditched treading the boards to go back to university where he studied philosophy at King's College in London with the ambition of becoming a human rights lawyer.

However, his IMDb profile reveals he did step back into his acting shoes in 2020 to star in a horror called A Little More Flesh.

His only other acting credit between that and My Family was in 2014 drama The Lost Choices.

The same cannot be said for many of his co-stars, who have gone on to appear in a wealth of TV and film projects.

Zoë , 72, appeared in the Harry Potter film franchise and Agatha Christie's Poirot, while Robert, also 72, has starred in a number of West End productions as well as the 2019 film Maleficient: Mistress of Evil and ITV drama, McDonald & Dodds.

Meanwhile Kris, 48, went on to be the main detective in Death in Paradise from 2014-2017 as well as Sanditon and last year's Netflix Christmas film, Father Christmas is Back.
