New EastEnders trailer reveals Sharon's grief, Linda's relapse, Ben's admission
In spite of the reduced weekly episode transmissions, EastEnders is as compelling as ever, and next week in particular is set to be a huge one — filled with plenty of drama — as Dennis Rickman’s (Bleu Landau) funeral arrives, and a brand new trailer has previewed what viewers have to look forward to.
Sharon Mitchell (Letitia Dean) prepares to say goodbye to her beloved Denny as the day of his funeral arrives, but she receives a shock visitor when Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) arrives back in the Square — eager to speak to her.
Meanwhile, Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) struggles with her addiction, and — with Dennis’ funeral having proven to be particularly tough — she reaches for the bottle once more, but — as seen in the trailer — her beloved Mick (Danny Dyer) discovers what’s going on, as he reminds her they used to tell each other everything.
There’s also more drama for Dotty (Milly Zero) — who’s still blackmailing Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) over his part in Dennis’ death — as she’s chased by a man, leaving Peter Beale (Dayle Hudson) to come to the rescue.
It was revealed last week that production on EastEnders had shut down amid the Coronavirus outbreak, and — in an effort to ensure the serial drama remains on our screens for as long as possible — weekly transmissions were reduced from four to two.
A statement from a BBC spokesperson said: ‘In light of the spread of Covid-19, after much consideration, it has been decided that filming on EastEnders will be postponed until further notice. The decision was made after the latest government update.
‘We will continue to follow the latest news and advice from the World Health Organisation and Public Health England. We have also taken the decision to reduce the amount of episodes we broadcast each week to two, so that we can ensure the audience can continue to enjoy EastEnders in their homes for as long as possible.’
In spite of the reduced transmissions, this trailer is proof that there’s plenty to look forward to!
EastEnders continues Monday 30 March at 8pm on BBC One.
