New ‘Venom’ Trailer Finally Reveals Tom Hardy in Terrifying Alien Form

“If you’re gonna stay, you will only hurt bad people,” Hardy’s character tells the alien symbiote in the trailer.

The new "Venom" trailer finally shows fans the goods: Tom Hardy in full monster form.

Sony released the second trailer for the anti-hero adventure Monday night and it’s full of action and symbiote leading up to the big reveal: Venom in his full grotesque glory — gooey appendages, "Alien"-esque teeth, pointy tongue and all.

We see Hardy’s character, Eddie Brock, break into the Life Foundation — an enemy of Spider-Man, too — which girlfriend Ann Weying (Michelle Williams) has connections with. Brock’s just fulfilling his journalistic duty of cracking down on evil corporations and their evil scientists (Riz Ahmed), but instead of getting a story, he gets an alien symbiote. What follows is a confused reporter kicking ass with new alien limbs that shoot out of his body while talking to a menacing voice in his head.

The trailer for the Sony superhero movie makes no direct references to Spider-Man, but here’s a quick crash course on their history: Venom first latched onto Peter Parker, who got rid of it once the powers started to make him go out of his mind, then the symbiote found a new host, Brock. We’re not sure how or if Spider-Man (now played by "Avengers: Infinity War" star Tom Holland) will make an appearance, but Sony did make the movie in association with Marvel, so we’re crossing our fingers.

Unlike Sony’s original "Spider-Man" trilogy or the Marvel Cinematic Universe, "Venom" strikes a darker, grittier tone. Still, Hardy’s character has noble intentions. "If you’re gonna stay, you will only hurt bad people," he says in the trailer.

"The way I see it, we can do whatever we want. Do we have a deal?" the symbiote replies.

We’ll see how that deal works out when "Venom" hits theaters on Oct. 5.
