'Ozark' Season 4 Part 2: Laura Linney, Jason Bateman Tease the Byrdes' Fate
Ozark will return to Netflix on April 29 with the final episodes of the series. During a panel at Deadline’s Contenders Television event, the cast teased what’s to come for the Byrdes in Ozark Season 4 Part 2. Find out what to expect in the remaining episodes as told by Laura Linney, Jason Bateman, and showrunner Chris Mundy.
‘Ozark’ cast say family and choices are a focus in season 4 part 2
Linney, Bateman, and Mundy spoke on behalf of the Netflix series at the Paramount Theatre in Los Angeles (Bateman joined in virtually). The trio teased the second half of Ozark’s final season, which Mundy says is all about “active choices.”
“Do Marty and Wendy want to stay together?” the showrunner said. “Do the kids want to be part of the family? Does Ruth [Julia Garner] want to be pulled into the Byrdes’ orbit or strike out on her own and get revenge for the Langmores? It really sort of circles in on itself in terms of family and what they’re willing to do to try to stay together and whether or not that’s a good choice.”
“We’re gonna catch up to it,” was all Mundy said about the scene at the Deadline event. “And it’s not a dream.”
As Mundy previously explained to TVLine, things seem light and cheery just before the crash, but “it’s going to be a mess.”
“Things [seem] fine even though they’re really not fine,” he added. “There’s a feeling on our show all the time where anything can happen at anytime, and I like that unease. We felt like people might be confused for a split second, but then when the [action cuts immediately] to Mexico, they’d realize [it was a flash-forward]. But we didn’t want to do any more of the math for them.”
Catch up on the first half of Ozark Season 4 on Netflix. The final half of the season drops on April 29.
