Peter Andre hits back at 'narrow-minded' trolls after he was slammed for saying parents should be 'friends' with their kids
The father of four revealed he is pals with his kids because he didn't feel he was able to talk to his dad when he was younger.
He also admitted that he couldn't be a stay-at-home dad because he loves working and providing for his family.
The singer told OK Magazine: "When I said you should be friends with your kids, so many people said: 'That’s terrible,' but that’s incredibly narrow-minded.
"You should be a parent first of course, but if your kids can’t talk to you about everything, then to me that’s not great.
"They don’t feel that stress or fear.My dad was so strict and I don’t remember being able to talk to him about anything, even though everything was done out of love."
The 45-year-old is dad to Amelia, four, and 17-month-old Theo with Emily MacDonagh, as well as having 12-year-old Junior and Princess, 10, from his relationship with Katie Price.
Recently, the singer confessed that he does not want another child with Emily, despite previously saying he did.
Pete told his fans in New! Magazine: “I keep changing my mind about wanting more kids and right now, I’m back to saying no more.
“Sometimes I think I want another one because I love the baby stage, but the kids themselves will have kids one day so you’re going to have the baby stage all over again – just without the sleepless nights.”
His ex-wife, Katie, also recently told the magazine that Peter will only reply to her messages in a group chat with Emily.
She revealed: "Apparently he won’t text me without Emily being on it."
The model added: "It’s just weird when you were with someone for so many years and they’re not the same person you thought and your relationship’s different."
