Rules of the Game will delve into a story of workplace sexual politics. The BBC drama is made up of four episodes, with a new instalment airing every week. Here’s everything we know about the cast of Rules of the Game.

Who is in the cast of Rules of the Game?

Sam – Maxine Peake

Acting as Chief Operating Officer at the family-run business is Sam who is straight-talking and doesn’t put up with any nonsense.

She is played by actress Maxine Peake who most recently starred in Anne on ITV which is a true story about a mum who fought for the truth following her son’s death at Hillsborough.

Peake has been in various other shows over the years including Children’s Ward, The Way We Live Now, Early Doors, Shameless, Criminal Justice and Silk.

One of her most famous roles was as Twinkle in the classic Victoria Wood sitcom Dinnerladies. 

Maya – Rakhee Thakrar

Brought in to try and help staff at the company as its new HR Director is Maya.

She is played by actress Rakhee Thakrar, who Netflix subscribers will recognise as teacher Emily Sands in the streaming service’s Sex Education.

Soap fans, however, will best know Thakrar as Shabnam Masood in EastEnders for two years.

At the end of last year, Thakrar played Mia in the four-part drama The Girl Before.

Anita – Alison Steadman

Anita is the widow of Harry who founded the family’s company.

She is portrayed by actress Alison Steadman who was in Shirley Valentine, Abigail’s Party, Orphan Black, Life and Boomers.

Steadman was also the iconic Pam Shipman in BBC One’s sitcom Gavin and Stacey.

She will feature in the upcoming movie The Mud Hut as Maureen Judd which is currently in post-production.

DI Eve Preston – Susan Wokoma

DI Eve Preston is investigating a case that involves the company and its staff.

DI Preston is portrayed by actress Susan Wokoma who is known for her roles as Raquel in the E4 show Crazyhead and Cynthia in Chewing Gum.

In 2017, Wokoma was listed as one of Europe’s Forbes 30 Under 30.

That same year, she was named as a BAFTA Breakthrough Brit by an international jury.

Owen Jenkins – Ben Batt

Owen is one of the brothers in Rules of the Game and the son of Anita.

Actor Ben Batt has previously starred in Jamestown, The Village, In the Dark and The English Game.
