South Park might be cancelled after season 22 – if Trey Parker and Matt Stone get their way…
South Park‘s creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone are calling for the sitcom to be cancelled ahead of its 22nd season. Because well, why wouldn’t they?
No-one wants another Simpsons situation, after all.
Yes, Parker and Stone have kick-started a mildly worrying campaign to take the cult series off-air on Twitter, asking fans to put the show out of its misery and “#cancelsouthpark”.
They even made a video about it too, warning viewers that America has “reached a crossroads”, where presumably the longevity of South Park can no longer be assured.
Of course, South Park isn’t really ending – in fact, its latest run is only just beginning as it gears up for its 22nd season premiere later this month.
And after last year’s season, and its genius ribbing of the white nationalist movement, we can’t wait to see what the satirical and wildly inappropriate series has in store.
As well as poking fun at supremacists, South Park also broke the fourth (and maybe even fifth) wall by pranking Amazon Echo and Google Home users watching the show.
Uh, Alexa, how do we stop the TV from triggering you?
South Park will return to Comedy Central for season 22 on September 26 in the US.
