Spoilers: Ian leaves Dennis to die in EastEnders drowning horror?
Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) hasn’t been getting along with Bobby (Clay Milner Russell) in EastEnders lately, but during tonight’s instalment — the second of the 35th anniversary specials — he discovered that it could be too late to do so after Bobby was attacked, and thus he sought revenge on behalf of his son, as he tracked down culprit Dennis Rickman (Bleu Landau).
Kathy (Gillian Taylforth) and Sharon (Letitia Dean) attempted to make Ian see sense in regards to him having disowned Bobby, but he remained steadfast in his position on the matter.
Meanwhile, Bobby was heading to mosque with Iqra (Priya Davdra) and Habiba (Rukku Nehar) when they were set upon by a group of thugs, who — having recognised Bobby from the social media posted — proceeded to attack them. Bobby defended Iqra, and ended up in a bad way, as viewers learned he was in need of surgery.
Bex (Jasmine Amrfield) had witnessed the attack, and — after learning from Dotty (Milly Zero) that Dennis was the one who’d been trolling Bobby online — she texted Ian to inform him of this information.
Devastated at the prospect of losing another child, Ian set out for revenge and tracked Dennis down on the boat party. The young man was arrogant and insulting — resulting in Ian smacking him across the face.
Determined to have a proper chat with Dennis, Ian through him into a room below the decks, and locked the door — awaiting him to sober up.
However, the unknown incident — something which will be revealed later in the week, no doubt — occurred, resulting in the boat filling with water.
Having realised what was happening, Ian set off with the keys to free Dennis — who was panicking as the room filled with water.
However, another surge resulted in Ian dropping the keys into the water — much to Dennis’ dismay.
With the hallways barely illuminated, Ian set off, before staring back at the door once more — pondering what to do next.
Will he leave Dennis to die? Or will he come back for him?
EastEnders’ epic 35th anniversary week continues Thursday at 7:30pm on BBC One.
