Star Wars' Mark Hamill teases fans over Episode 9's title
Mark Hamill may have revealed what Star Wars: Episode IX‘s title is… well, the first word, at least.
The ever-teasy Luke Skywalker star posted a very cryptic tweet alluding to the next Star Wars movie, and the first word may or may not be… *drum roll*…
The star then added “(to be continued…)”, though we’ll take this with a big pinch of salt.
While this may or may not hint at the title, it does make sense and would make this the first trilogy in the saga to have all three movies start with “the”.
It would also be the fifth movie in the entire franchise to begin as such, following The Phantom Menace, The Empire Strikes Back, The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi.
(Yes, we’re overanalysing – what of it?)
Of course, most details for Episode IX remain understandably under wraps – though we do know that it will bring back a familiar face from The Force Awakens.
Hamill will also return alongside new trilogy regulars Daisy Ridley, Kelly Marie Tran, John Boyega and Adam Driver.
Some old faces will also pop up including Billy Dee Williams and Anthony Daniels, as well as a bunch of new stars such as Richard E Grant, Matt Smith, Naomi Ackie, Lost‘s Dominic Monaghan and The Americans‘ Keri Russell.
The movie is also set to use unused footage of Carrie Fisher from The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi to integrate General Leia Organa.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi is out now on Blu-ray, DVD and digital download.
Star Wars: Episode IX will be released on December 20, 2019.
