Steps’ Faye Tozer ‘signs up for Strictly’ despite years of stage experience
Faye Tozer, who sung with pop group Steps, is reported to have become the latest celebrity to sign up for Strictly Come Dancing.
42-year-old Faye is expected to real contender to lift the glitterball trophy after years touring and ample experience on the West End stage.
Steps were as much known for their energetic dance routines as their cheesy pop hits which included Stomp, Tragedy and Chain reaction.
Three years after the group split in 2001, talented Faye bagged a role in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s one-woman musical Tell Me on a Sunday.
Following a successful run, Faye was invited to tour with the musical Love Shack and later Aladdin with X Factor finalist Ray Quinn.
Fans of the BBC One dance show have been critical in the past of ‘amateur’ dancers having extensive dance experience.
A TV insider told The Sun: "Few in the past have had quite so much professional performance time as Faye.
"Everyone expects her to be a strong contender but it will raise more questions over whether it’s fair for someone who has danced professionally to be up against people with no experience."
While the BBC declined to comment on the rumours, they confirmed the full announcement would be made in the coming weeks.
Former Gogglebox star Scarlett Moffatt is on the rumoured line-up as Cheryl and ex EastEnder Shaun Williamson.
