Stranger Things star Gaten Matarazzo says second surgery for rare bone disorder Cleidocranial Dysplasia was a success – The Sun

STRANGER Things actor Gaten Matarazzo has hailed his latest bone disorder surgery a "complete success."

The delighted Netflix star took to his Instagram page to post the happy medical update, alongside a snap of him in the ward with a bandaged up face.

Gaten, who plays Dustin in the hit series, suffers from rare genetic disorder Cleidocranial Dysplasia, which affects the alignment of his teeth.

He managed to muster a half smile and thumbs up, even sporting a plaster on his hand, as he lay in the bed after an operation which exposed six of his adult teeth.

He explained "the big one" in his series of operations had gone really well, in a detailed Instagram caption.

Gaten wrote: "Though my expression in this picture may not show it, the surgery was a complete success.

"This was such A big one, it may be the last one I need. Hopefully at least.

"Those who suffer from Cleidocranial Dysplasia usually have Supernumerary teeth, which are extra teeth that grow in the gums.

"I’ve had several surgeries to extract these teeth from within my gums and help expose the teeth that should have already grown in considering my age.

"In this surgery, the team of amazing medical professionals extracted 14 supernumerary teeth and exposed six of my adult teeth."

In more telling comments, he added: "I was under for four hours. My recovery for the past few days has been great and I can’t thank the team that did the surgery enough.

"Thank you all for your kind wishes and prayers. It means a lot.
