Strictly Come Dancing's Lee Ryan says his daughter will be voting for YouTuber Joe Sugg to win

Lee Ryan might be counting on the support of Blue’s fanbase to get him through Strictly Come Dancing, especially as there’s one family member who won’t be picking up the phone for him.

Speaking to Digital Spy ahead of the launch of the new series of the BBC One hit, the singer said: “My little girl… Today, I got her on FaceTime. Joe Sugg was behind me and he put his face out, and her face was like [gasps]! She literally burst out crying.

“Then she was like, ‘I’m not gonna vote for you dad, I’m gonna vote for Joe’.”

The EastEnders actor also revealed which Strictly professional dancer he’d like to be partnered with for the upcoming shows.

“I think anyone would be great,” he said. “But I think it’s got a lot to do with my height… I’m relatively tall.

“I couldn’t be with someone really tall. Like Janette [Manrara], she’s amazing but she’s too small for me.

“I’m growing to learn that they pair you on height, as well as other things.”

This year’s series of Strictly will see male celebs Lee Ryan, Danny John-Jules, Seann Walsh, Graeme Swann, Joe Sugg, Charles Venn and Dr Ranj Singh compete with the ladies, Faye Tozer, Stacey Dooley, Kate Silverton, Lauren Steadman, Ashley Roberts, Vick Hope, Susannah Constantine and Katie Piper, for that elusive glitterball trophy.

Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One on Saturday, September 8.
