Strictly Come Dancing's Stacey Dooley responds to Craig Revel Horwood's criticism ahead of the next live show

Strictly Come Dancing star Stacey Dooley may be well liked by the other judges (Shirley Ballas said she had “mega talent”) and is doing really quite well with bookmakers, but Craig Revel Horwood isn’t a fan.

The resident ‘mean judge’ gave her a four for her cha-cha to Sigala and Ella Eyre’s ‘Came Here for Love’, something she and partner Kevin Clifton haven’t taken lightly.

Appearing on last night’s (October 2) Strictly: It Takes Two, she was introduced with clips of her performance and subsequent critique from the most recent live show.

“I can’t even watch,” she said in response. “I’m a real advocate for ‘live your best life’, the cha-cha is not my best life. It’s my abso worst.”

Host Zoe Ball said at least it was done and dusted now, to which Stacey replied: “Never to be seen again!”

When asked why she was so harsh on herself, Stacey said: “The cha-cha, right from the start… I knew it wasn’t my kinda thing. (Kevin Clifton) is so supportive and so invested and desperate to make it work.

“And when the judges sort of… you know, when Craig gets the four and says, ‘I didn’t like anything about it’, you try not to take it personally but it was my dance, so what can I do?”

Continuing on a more upbeat note, she said that she “mustn’t dismiss the positives” and mentioned that Queen of Latin Shirley gave her good feedback.

Strictly Come Dancing continues this Saturday (October 6) at 6.30pm with Movies Week. See who is dancing to what right here.
