Strictly viewers share outrage at judges inappropriate Adam Peaty remarks
Strictly Come Dancing's Adam Peaty put on a good weekend performance but the judges seemed to be more interested in his body, said angry viewers.
Furious fans of the BBC show stormed to Twitter after Saturday night's show to argue their case against the judge's – what fans viewed as – objectifying comments.
The Olympic swimmer and his professional partner Katya Jones were both dressed in denim for week five as they danced the samba.
The pair received a score of 29 from the judges for the routine – but viewers said the judges barely commented on the dance at all.
Fans flocked to say that the judges' comments left them all feeling "uncomfortable".
After their performance, host Tess Daly said: “Phew, I’ve got faith in those hips of yours, right focus.”
She then handed over to Anton Du Beke, who said "there was a lot about it that made me go twitchy".
Craig Revel Horwood then agreed and responded: "Made me twitch too".
Tess then turned towards head judge Shirley Ballas and asked: “Would you, Shirley?”
Laughing, she replied: “Well, I thought it was absolutely fantastic in comparison to your Rumba, but you managed to stay in the pocket of the music.
“You're grounded, you listened to the music, I’m absolutely bowled over, I’m floored, well done,” she described.
Fans took to social media to rage about the judge's 'inappropriate' comments, with one saying: “If a straight male judge spoke to a female contestant the way Craig, Shirley and Motsi do, there’d be uproar."
Another added: “Couldn’t agree more! Tess included it’s so uncomfortable to watch. If they give him a high mark over the tight jeans and clunky routing, I’m going to be fuming #Strictly.”
While a third commented: “I get a little uncomfortable when the judges droll all over the male contestants. If it was men doing it to a female, it would be very different, wouldn’t it… #Strictly.”
And a fourth ironically stated: "It was refreshing to see the judges almost hold back on the sexist, inappropriate, pervy comments"
Strictly Come Dancing airs Saturdays at 7.15pm on BBC One.
