Strictly’s Shirley Ballas sends fans into a spin with ‘mind-blowing’ throwback from her professional dancing days – The Sun
STRICTLY'S head judge Shirley Ballas has wowed fans with an incredible throwback from her professional dancing days.
The ballroom dancer, 59, won so many championships in the 1980s she was named The Queen of Latin.
And in the throwback clip, Shirley takes to the dancefloor in a slinky black sequined gown with a thigh-high split.
She is dancing with her then husband Corky Ballas – who spins her around the dancefloor.
Sharing the clip on Twitter, she wrote: "Beautiful memory. Trip down memory lane for sure."
And fans rushed to compliment her incredible moves.
"Wow Shirley, absolutely blown away. What an amazing dancer you are, I've never seen dancing like it," one fan commented.
"Omg Shirley how on earth did you not feel dizzy after that continuous spin!!" another added.
"Simply phenomenal!……Head Judge for a reason," a third wrote.
Corky and Shirley competed together and won their first professional Latin title in 1984 and went on to win it a further eight years in a row.
She married Corky back in 1985 but they split when he left her for former Strictly pro Kristina Rihanoff after he became the dancer's teacher in 2003.
Shirley divorced Corky in 2007 but his relationship with Kristina reportedly fizzled out the following year.
Earlier today we reported Shirley revealed her transformation after having breast implant removal surgery – and admitted she was "in pain" during this weekend's shows.
She defied doctors' orders to take her seat on the panel for the BBC One series on Saturday, just days after the procedure, which has a six to eight week recovery time.
Shirley admitted on today's Lorraine that she was suffering during the iconic dancing series – but had moderated her medication due to her "commitment" to the show.
The star had a boob job 17 years ago to address her "low self esteem" and boost her bra size to a DD, yet after a mammogram, during which the nurses told her they could not see behind the implants, decided to have them taken out.
Her mother's elder sister, then her mother, were previously diagnosed with cancer.
Giving an update on how she was feeling, Shirley said today: "I'm good. It has been an emotional week for sure, your whole emotions are up and down during surgery.
"I made a commitment though to the show (Strictly) and I wanted to see it through.
"I chose to take minimal painkillers because I wanted to be 'there' for the show."
In a cheery note, she added: "Every day I will be getting better."
The Lorraine show followed Shirley as she prepared for the procedure, in a special home video.
In the scenes, during which she was again joined by boyfriend Daniel Taylor, she candidly said of her decision to have the procedure: "I just think, where was your mind?
"What pushed you to do that?
"I won't blame dance for the way I felt but there were people in dance that made me feel uncomfortable, and I had really low self esteem."
