The Mandalorian season 2 cast: Who played Luke Skywalker in The Mandalorian?
The Mandalorian: Disney release trailer for Star Wars show
The Mandalorian season two has now finished airing on Disney Plus and the season finale welcomed back a surprise character. The titular character, played by Pedro Pascal, finally completed his mission and managed to return Grogu to the safe hands of the Jedi. Fans are keen to know how Luke Skywalker was able to make a comeback, and Express.co.uk has all you need to know.
Who played Luke Skywalker in The Mandalorian?
The final episode of The Mandalorian season two was full of surprises as the title character arrived at Moff Gideon’s (Giancarlo Esposito) base.
His army of Dark Troopers had kidnapped Baby Yoda and The Mandalorian had to team up with Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison), Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff), Cara Dune (Gina Carano) and others in order to save him.
They believed they had finally triumphed over Gideon, but another fleet of Dark Troopers swooped in and they were ready for an attack.
Fans were then shocked to see a mysterious Jedi come aboard the ship, and he was able to effortlessly destroy the Trooper army.
Viewers were surprised when the Jedi turned out to be the famous Luke Skywalker, from the original Star Wars films A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.

The actor who played Luke in the original films was Mark Hamill, and the 69-year-old featured in the finale of The Mandalorian, but not as fans would expect.
As the Disney Plus series is set not long after The Return of the Jedi, the creators could not have used Hamill in the flesh, due to his age.
Instead, they used the power of CGI to digitally “de-age” the actor, so he could reprise his role in the season two finale.
Actor Hamill is on Twitter and on the date of the final episode, he joked: “Seen anything good on TV lately?”
The Tweet was liked by more than 499,000 people, with one fan saying: “I probably SHOULD have seen it coming given previous events on the show, but somehow it still managed to catch me by surprise. So great!”
Another fan said: “TV just reminded us that we have missed the real Luke so much…Thank you.”
Hamill went on to play an older version of Skywalker in the latest films in the Star Wars franchise – The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker.
He was also nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award for his role in the animated series The Clone Wars.
Fans were thrilled to see him return alongside their favourite droid, R2-D2 as they offered to take Grogu away to train him.
The final moments of the season were tear-jerking moments for viewers as The Mandalorian had to say goodbye to the creature he treated like a son.

They are hoping Baby Yoda will return in a third season, and they are also wondering whether Luke Skywalker will get his own spin-off series.
There had been rumours suggesting a spin-off was in the making for Disney Plus, with Sebastian Stan being considered for the lead role.
Nothing has been confirmed yet, so fans can only hope they will see more of the character in another series.
While some fans recognised Luke by his green lightsaber, others had no idea it was him until he revealed his face in a dramatic moment.
One said on Twitter: “I KNEW IT.. Like I said ‘Nobody removes a hood like Mark Hamill!!!’ [sic]”.
American actor Hamill is married with three children, and since leaving the original Star Wars films he went on to feature in The Muppet Show, as himself and Luke Skywalker in The Stars of Star Wars.
Wanting a break from his Star Wars character, he turned to Broadway for some projects, including The Elephant Man and Amadeus.
He played the Joker in the 1992 series Batman: The Animated Series and was a part of the DC universe for many years.
Hamill won three awards for his Star Wars roles, including two Saturn Awards for Best Actor – one for The Empire Strikes Back and the other for Return of the Jedi.
In 2018 he won another Saturn Award for Best Actor, for his role in The Last Jedi.
