The One Shows Alex Jones turned down by bosses despite writing many letters
Alex Jones has revealed she was rejected by the BBC on numerous occasions before landing her presenting gig on The One Show.
The 45-year-old presenter, who has been fronting the chat show since 2010, has opened up on her childhood memories of the BBC in a new interview to mark the broadcaster's landmark 100 years.
In an interview with Radio Times magazine, Alex admitted she wrote “so many letters” to BBC chiefs looking for a role before landing the prime time slot.

"I forever wanted to work at the BBC.
“Between the ages of 18 to probably 30, I wrote so many letters to various people who ultimately turned me down — people who still work there, some of them, which is funny."
She added: "It was the pinnacle of broadcasting, and it still feels like that."
Alex also reflected on her first day at The One Show and what it meant to her.
She said: "I was nervous… It was what I'd secretly been wanting for so long, and finally I was there.
"I had done a lot of telly leading up to The One Show, so that part didn’t scare me. But it was what it meant to me… It was really big for me personally, and I didn’t want to get it wrong."
The mum-of-three said her favourite part of The One Show is variety and said she'll stay on the programme as long as the BBC will have her.
Asked where she sees herself in 20 years, Alex said: "Longevity is very underrated… No show is the same. So whether I’m talking to John, who’s grown gigantic onions, or Dolly Parton, the mix on The One Show is what I love.
"I feel really lucky to still be on that sofa. I'll stay as long as they'll have me!"
To mark the BBC’s centenary on 18 October, The One Show has been renamed The One Hundred Show for a week from 24th to the 28th October.
