The Walking Dead: Rosita and Eugene romance confirmed in Rick Grimes easter egg?

The Walking Dead viewers have witnessed Eugene (played by Josh McDermitt) pining over Rosita (Christian Serratos) since the pair first arrived in Rick Grimes’ (Andrew Lincoln) group. While Rosita was originally with Abraham Ford (Michael Cudlitz), she eventually fell pregnant with Siddiq’s (Avi Nash) baby, and is currently dating Father Gabriel (Seth Gilliam).

All the while, though, Eugene has still been yearning to begin a relationship with Rosita, despite her declining the invite multiple times.

Now, though, it looks like things are about to hot up for the pair, as teased in the trailer for the second half of season ten.

In a fast cut sizzle reel for the next half of the season Eugene and Rosita can be seen staring at each other, with faces inches from touching.

While this certainly doesn’t prove anything, it does look like they are going to fall into a passionate kiss at any moment.

  • The Walking Dead season 10: Andrea to return for Michonne’s exit?

However the larger shade of proof available to fans came back in season nine, during Rick’s final episode “What Comes After”.

During the episode Rick was almost fatally injured, and was hallucinating from a severe amount of blood loss.

Lost in his esoteric visions, Rick foresaw what could be in store for his friends and family.

Within the vision Rick morbidly walked through a sea of his deceased friends’ bodies, teasing that, perhaps, they may not all make it out alive.

Hidden within this sea of death, however, was Rosita and Eugene, with there arms and hands intertwined.

The couple – who aren’t a couple just yet – seem to have had their romantic relationship cemented an entire season in advance.

However, as this is literally a vision of a dying man with almost no blood left, it could have just been what Rick was seeing between them, rather than an actual vision of the future.

Either way, fans are eager to see whether the pair are going to get together for good in the upcoming episodes – and signs are looking good for Eugene, for the first time ever.

Meanwhile, viewers are also going crazy about a recent tease for next season which sees a hand coming out of a shallow grave — similar to Stephen King’s Carrie.

But the latest theory surrounding this snippet seems to point towards the emerging hand being part of a series of tunnels, created by the Whisperers.

Another theory is that it is the now-undead version of Cheryl (Rebecca Koon) who was killed off by Dante (Juan Jaiver Cardenas) just before Christmas.

If it is her, though, why is she coming back to life now? And not almost instantly after she died?

  • The Walking Dead: Cause of Walker virus finally uncovered by creator?

Cheryl’s return would cause drama in Alexandria, as a free-walking zombie in the community would cause user chaos.

Could this have been the Whisperers’ plan all along to incite chaos and attempt to kill the community off?

Or is it simply a happy accident, leaving the residents defenceless?

The Walking Dead returns to AMC on February 24, and the next day on Fox UK.
