AMC’s hit apocalyptic series The Walking Dead is currently on a mid-season break after airing the first part of its season finale. Thankfully for fans, the network have released an intense trailer to provide insight into the fate of the characters and after spotting a clue it looks as though Negan Smith (played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan) will soon meet his demise.

With The Walking Dead’s upcoming return to screens, AMC released an action-packed trailer on Wednesday.

It showed a very dramatic juxtaposition which revealed, while some were celebrating others continued to fight for their lives.

Commonwealth governor Pamela Milton (Laila Robins) could be seen being applauded and taking to the stage to announce: “brick by brick, block by block, we’re putting the world back together the way it was.”

While she was being celebrated, the others were on the frontline taking out the zombies in hopes of living a somewhat normal life again.

Another person who appeared to have reached the end of their tether was Maggie Rhee (Lauren Cohan).

In the trailer, Negan could be seen teasing Maggie about her attempts to keep making decisions about his future.

He told her: “It’s just a matter of time before you make the same call,” which suggests one day she will also have to make the horrible choices he did as leader of the Saviors.

Then in the next clip, Maggie was filled with rage as she marched towards someone and was shooting them, while Darryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) yelled “No”

The two haven’t had a steady past, viewers will remember the recent argument they had in the finale of season 11 part one.

Although he had taken her and Elijah (Okea Eme-Akwari) to the woods so they could learn how to be one of the Whisperers.

This was a self-taught technique Negan had learned to take advantage of the walkers, use them to their advantage and turn the zombies into an army.

While the activity started off smooth-sailing it ended in a very opposite way after Negan decided it was the time to give Maggie some harsh truths.

After the pair had a heart-to-heart conversation, Negan tried to comfort a closed-off Maggie by telling her he understood what it was like to lose their people.

However, she wasn’t having it and claimed nobody at the Sanctuary was more important than her people.

In fact, they had both been living with an immense level of trauma after watching their friends and loved ones turn into walkers, then having to return to a community they built – which could never be the same.

Maggie continued to argue, the Sanctuary wasn’t a real community due to the lack of families and children, however, Negan soon shot back and asked where Aaron (Ross Marquand) got Gracie.

If Maggie does end up killing Negan in the upcoming episodes, it will be devastating for Daryl as had been trying to keep him alive.

Elsewhere in the trailer, a majority of the key survivors were on high alert and it appeared they had no choice as it was the next leg of their journey to freedom.

The official AMC statement for part two reads: “Many of our heroes are fighting imminent hellfire under Reaper attack, while others battle Mother Nature’s torrential wrath in Alexandria. For all, their world is literally crashing down around them.

“Meanwhile, life in the Commonwealth is not as idyllic as it seems, for some, hope will be renewed. Others will be pushed past the point of no return.”

The Walking Dead season 11, part 2 will premiere on AMC on February 20, 2022 in the USA. The UK release date is set for February 21, 2022, on Disney.
