This Morning viewers mock Gillian McKeith, 59, for wearing see-through dress on the show as she insists it makes her feel 'confident'
The 59-year-old You Are What You Eat star set tongues wagging last month when she wore a dress with a see-through skirt to a premiere alongside her daughter Skylar, 24.
Appearing on today's This Morning, Gillian wore the dress again as she was joined by Skylar to discuss her elaborate wardrobe.
Gillian said: "I feel confident. Self expression should be celebrated whatever you wear.
"I like to wear things that are out there."
When host Phillip Schofield said she was mocked online for her ensemble, she told him she never reads comments about herself.
She added: "I don't know what the age is when women are supposed to cover up like a Victorian woman.
"I don't think that's the way we should celebrate being women, we should wear whatever we want to wear.
"I feel confident in my own skin, I've always told my children, f you are true to yourself you can always find contentment.
"If I was wearing something frumpy I wouldn't feel confident."
However it didn't stop viewers from continuing to mock the TV star, with one writing on Twitter: "I think she should stick to looking at poo."
Another added: "I don't want to be liberated if it involves wearing that outfit tbh."
A third agreed, writing: "#gillianmckeith expressing her personality….dressing like a 1960s #Batman."
Meanwhile a fourth tweeted: "Gillian McKeith = attention seeker."
But Gillian insisted she dresses how she wants because she feels comfortable in her own skin.
She said: "I've always enjoyed wearing something that's exciting and different and says something about me.
"We should not squash women of any age with their fashion sense, let people live and be the way you want to be.
"We should not be condemning someone for their self expression."
A number of viewers agreed with her, with one writing: "If you feel comfy in something you should wear it regardless of your age. Live and let live people. Live and let live."
Another added: "I'm all for people wearing what they want."
