Tracy Beaker star Dani Harmer says she'll never be a Victoria's Secret model but is still 'fabulous' after trolling
TRACY Beaker star Dani Harmer has said she'll never be a Victoria Secret model but is still fabulous after being attacked by trolls.
It comes after the 32-year-old actress hit back when she was fat-shamed for being a size 10.
The star, who is most well-known for her portrayal of the troubled teen in the popular CBBC show, has always been criticised for her body.
Even when she was two dress sizes smaller during her stint on Strictly Come Dancing in 2012, people still felt like they had the right to comment on her weight.
After various negative comments earlier this week, one fan told the star that being a size 10 is "normal and healthy" and that "normal bodies don't look like Victoria Secret's models".
Dani wrote back to her followers: "I’m 5ft so obviously not going to ever look like a Victoria secret model but my goodness I’m fabulous xxx."
Lots of her followers replied to Dani's tweet to remind her that she's great just the way that she is.
One wrote: "My God. I'm so glad you can see past the ridiculous comments on your size. It's truly heartening to see it's possible to laugh in the face of that judgey s**t. You look amazing. Also, I'm defo watching new series even though I'm a grown up."
Another joked: "Tell them to bog off Dani. You’re fabulous xx."
A third tweeted: "Honestly it’s better to be unique , yourself and you are fabulous just the way you are . We all love you xxx."
A fourth chimed in: "Love u."
But this isn't the first time Dani's had to deal with awful comments thrown her way on the internet.
During her time on the 10th series of Strictly – which was won by gymnast Louis Smith – she became a victim of vicious online trolling.
Talking about it at the time, she told the Mail Online: "I’d always been so confident with my body. I’m a size six. But when you get tweets saying 'you’re fat' it hurts your feelings – massively hurts them.
"As a woman, you don’t want to be told that. You want to feel good, especially when you’re dancing and wearing those tiny costumes. I do, but now and again I get a little knocked back by someone saying something mean."
And while some continue to bring Dani down about her weight, others are preparing for her epic return as Tracy Beaker on TV this Friday.
After stepping down from her role as the iconic character back in 2013, Dani is finally back.
The actress is starring in CBBC's new drama My Mum Tracy Beaker.
It will explore the mother daughter bond between the single mum and 10-year-old daughter Jess (Emma Maggie Davies).
The spin-off will be told through Jess' eyes and highlight the the troubles they go through each day just to get by.
The Tracy Beaker franchise began back in 1991 when author Jacqueline Wilson wrote The Story of Tracy Beaker.
The novel – which was based on the difficulties 10-year-old Tracy went through during her time in foster care – has been made into six books, three TV series, a number of successful spin-offs and a television movie.
My Mum Tracy Beaker will premiere on CBBC and BBC iPlayer at 5pm on Friday 12 February.
