Who is Babatunde Aleshe who appears with Mo Gilligan on Celebrity Gogglebox?

It’s day… something of lockdown, and though some shops will be open from Monday 15 June, our evenings and nights are pretty much spent indoors.

Luckily Celebrity Gogglebox is back to help keep the Friday night fun going, with some familiar faces like Denise van Outen, KSI and Mo Gilligan giving viewers a peek into their homes – and doing it safely, despite some viewers thinking otherwise.

Sitting with funny-man Mo Gilligan this series is Babatunde Aleshe.

Ahead of the next episode, here’s a closer look at Babatunde and where you might recognise him from…

Who is Babatunde Aleshe?

Babatunde is an actor, writer and comedian.

His acting career has included an appearance in Doctor Who back in 2010, as well as appearing in Eastenders in 2011, where he played a nurse who had to start Tanya Jessop (Jo Joyner) on her chemotherapy treatments.

He also had a scene with Tanya’s daughter, Lauren (Jacqueline Jossa).

His main focus has been on comedy though, and viewers certainly seemed to enjoy his first episode of Celebrity Gogglebox.

He won Best Newcomer at the Black Entertainment Comedy Awards and has performed in venues including the O2 and the Hackney Empire.

Last year, Babatunde won the Amused Moose National New Comic Award and was selected to appear on The Process, a prestigious live showcase led by Dave Chapelle.

Celebrity Gogglebox continues tonight at 9pm on Channel 4.
