Will there be a second series of The Bay on ITV? Plus a recap of series 1

ITV'S The Bay has gripped audiences across the nation – but will there be more?

We take a look on what you could expect from a second offering of the hit series which is set to come to an end TONIGHT (April 24. 2019).

Will there be a second series of The Bay?

ITV are yet to confirm this, but judging by how popular The Bay has been it could be picked up for a second offering.

If this was to happen, filming would likely take place this summer (2019).

With this in mind it would then air around March/April 2020.

Who would be in the cast of The Bay series two?

The show would likely bring back DS Lisa Armstong played Morven Christie, her boss DI Tony Manning (Daniel Ryan), and colleagues Med (Taheen Modak), DS Alexander Stewart (Simon Manyonda) if we get a season two

Lisa's children Abbie (Imogen King) and Rob (Art Parkinson), and her mum Penny (Lindsey Coulson) could also come back.

The show would likely have a new plot, so Jonas Armstrong who played Sean Meredith, may not return – his character is also likely to be in prison.

What would happen in The Bay series two?

The show has been likened to Broadchurch, so with this in mind, it will have a completely different plot to series one – in Broadchurch each series focuses on a new case.

It is likely to have a different mystery that DS Lisa will have to solve.

This series has already involved missing kids, murder and drugs, so viewers will be intrigued to see what they do next.

What happened in series one of The Bay?

The show kicked of with the DS Lisa Armstrong on a night out where she had sex with local man Sean Meredith in an alleyway.

Then, there was news that local teenagers Holly and Dylan had gone missing – Lisa was assigned to their case and Sean was their dad.

In the background we saw Lisa's daughter get involved with dealing drugs for local man Vincent.

Lisa's son Rob was also involved in a dangerous online dare game.

Dylan's body was found washed up on the beach – and Holly's bag was found in the sea.

Later, vulnerable adult Nick was accused of knowing what happened to the twins – Sean and his twisted brother-in-law Ryan took him hostage, with Ryan beating him to a pulp.

Nick later revealed he had helped Holly hide as she was frightened after Dylan's death and she was found in the old derelict Lido.

We also found out that Sean and Ryan had been transporting drugs in the fishing boat.

Holly revealed she was pregnant – but wouldn't say who the father was, and then confessed to killing Dylan.

  • The final piece of the puzzle will be revealed TONIGHT (April 24, 2019) at 9pm when the last episode of the series is aired.
