A dead body believed to be of a teenager was found in a busy park in London this morning.

The Metropolitan Police said a man was found unresponsive in Victoria Park, in east London.

Officers were called to the scene at 6.54am today.

The force said it was a non-suspicious death and that the dead man is believed to be in his teens.

Police taped off a section of the public park, with a police car park pictured at the scene.

The park is highly popular with families and runners, with many residents visiting it for their daily exercise during lockdown.

Over the weekend, hundreds of people were pictured visiting the area as Brits adjusted to being back in a national lockdown again.

Last year, it temporarily closed for two weeks during the first lockdown in March to stop people breaching coronavirus social distancing rules.

Tower Hamlets Council reopened it in April, but introduced several measures in a bid to encourage people to keep to the guidelines.
