BUS-TED: Two drunken teenagers are caught on CCTV taking a bus on a nine-mile joyride before crashing it

  • Harry Atley, 19, and Thomas Bloomfield, 18, took stole a bus for a joy-ride in 2017
  • The drunken pair were filmed on CCTV shrieking and swearing while driving 
  • Both were hit with eight month detention sentences, suspended for one year

Two drunken teenagers were busted taking a single-decker bus on a nine-mile joyride before crashing it.

Harry Atley, 19, and Thomas Bloomfield, 18, were filmed on CCTV shrieking and swearing as they took turns to drive the £75,000 bus.

The teenagers can be heard boasting: ‘We’ve just stole a bus, we’ve f***ing stolen a bus.’

‘No-one is on this bus bruv apart from us,’ one said.  

Both intoxicated – they switched and swapped over the driver without stopping or slowing to down change seats.

Both take a few moments to learn how to operate the vehicle until one they get it moving.  

After 14 minutes of reckless driving – the teens lose control of the bus on the single carriageway.

The footage shows the vehicle veering in to a hedge on the side of the road just before 2am.

Both men pleaded guilty at Gloucester Crown Court on Friday to aggravated vehicle taking and dangerous driving.

The teenagers took the 41-seater bus Pulham and Sons bus in Tetbury on November 18, 2017 and crashed it after 14 minutes of reckless driving 

Both intoxicated – they switched and swapped over the driver without stopping to change seats.

The pair were hit with eight month detention sentences, suspended for one year, and ordered to pay £10,000 compensation to Pulham and Sons Coaches Ltd.   

They were also ordered to do 200 hours of unpaid work and each men have a curfew for five months. 

They have also been disqualified from driving for 18 months.
