Doctors say EVERYONE should be given face masks to slow the spread of coronavirus – The Sun

DOCTORS yesterday insisted everyone should be given face masks.

Campaign group Masks4All, which is backed by 100 medics, suggests even home-made ones can slow the spread of Covid-19.

Prof Babak Javid, consultant in infectious diseases at Cambridge University Hospitals, believes “population mask-wearing should be an important part of the response to Covid”.

He added: "Once Covid cases are largely suppressed, we can stop wearing masks, their incremental gain will be low.

"But now, to really benefit from masks, the majority of us need to wear masks."

Scientific advisers for the Government are carrying out a review and are expected to come up with new advice on them this week.

Several European nations are now advising people to wear them outdoors.

Yesterday former Prime Minister Tony Blair warned that people will only get back to work if made to wear masks as a group of medics called on people to make their own.

Mr Blair said: “I can’t believe people will be going back to work without wearing masks. You are going to need mass production of that.”
