An estate agent who jokingly advertised an igloo for sale for £250,000 was then besieged by house hunters who demanded viewings.

Palmer & Partners said the igloo on ‘North Pole Road’ had ‘signs of damp’ in a tongue-in-cheek advertisement posted online amid Britain’s continuing cold snap.

The estate agent used a photograph of an igloo built by a family in Clacton-on-Sea for the satirical post, and the firm was shocked when they received viewing requests.

Brady Rackham told the Sun: ‘I thought it would be fun to put it on the market. We have actually had a few viewing requests.’

The listing describes the igloo as a ‘great first home’ with ‘room to extend’, adding the one-bedroom, one-bathroom property is in a ‘great location’ with a ‘large plot.’

The advert reads: ‘Be quick! This won’t be for sale for long.

‘A great chance to purchase this wonderful igloo built by a local family.

‘The property is showing signs of damp, so any potential buyer must have a survey before agreeing to buy.

‘Viewing is now available and we have keys to view.’
