Family searching for student Sydney West, 19, after she vanished last week
THE terrified family of missing California college student Sydney West are desperately searching for the 19-year-old, who disappeared last week.
West, who goes by the nickname Syd, is considered at-risk due to depression, according to the San Francisco Police Department.
She was reportedly attending classes at University of California-Berkeley over the summer, and had been staying with friends in San Francisco since.
West is originally from North Carolina, and her parents issued a statement about her disappearance through the Orange County Sheriff’s Office in the state.
"We are asking anyone who has any information about our daughter Sydney to please contact the investigators," the statement said.
"We are anxious to have our daughter found safe and brought home."
West was last seen in the area of Crissy Field near the Golden Gate Bridge on the morning of September 30.
She has not had any contact with friends or family since.
The San Francisco Police Department described her as a white female with blonde hair and blue eyes.
She is around 5 feet 10 inches and weighs about 135 pounds, the department said.
