FBI honors second fallen agent with memorial service in Hard Rock Stadium
FBI to honor slain agent at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami
The FBI is holding a memorial service for slain FBI Special Agent Daniel Alfin the day after the agency honored Special Agent Laura Schwartzenberger with friends and family.
The agents were shot and killed while serving a warrant in a child pornography case Tuesday.
The funeral procession arrived at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens around 2 p.m. on Sunday. Schwartzenberger’s family was also in attendence for Alfin’s ceremony.

FBI Director Christopher Wray spoke during the service, speaking of Alfin’s dedication to the agency and the good work he performed.
“Dan’s legacy is one of passion, dedication and principle,” Wray said. “It’s what you imagine when you think of a proud FBI agent who will do anything to catch the bad guy and a devoted father who would do anything for his family.”
Wray said that Alfin and Schwartzenberger were cut from “the same patriotic cloth” before reading comments similar to those he spoke at Schwartzenberger’s memorial on Saturday. Wray called Alfin “a true American hero.”
“You knew his brilliance and famously dry humor,” Wray said to the gathered mourners. “You loved his tenacity and his heart – one full of passion for fighting for children every single day – and while I didn’t have the privilege of knowing Dan the way you did, what I’ve learned over the past few days is that Dan lived by his sworn oath: He was so proud to have been part of something bigger than himself, just as he always put his family first.”
Wray’s comments were followed by a 21 gun salute, a performance of Amazing Grace and a “Final Radio Call,” which servers as the final acknowledgment of the agent’s passing.
Alfin was born in New York and entered the FBI in 2009, when he was initially assigned to the FBI Albany Field Office. He was assigned to the Miami office in 2017 and worked crimes against children violations for over six years.

“Special Agent Alfin was a valuable member of the FBI team,” the memorial program said. “He will forever be a hero and we will always honor his ultimate sacrifice.”
“Special Agent Alfin is survived by his son Eli and wife Jessie. Our sympathies are with his family and loved one.”
“We, the FBI Family, share in their loss.”
This is a developing story.
