Hero mum tackles man who ‘peeked into daughter’s bedroom window’ NFL style

A brave mum tackled a teen to ground in "NFL style" after catching him "peeking" into her daughter's bedroom window.

Phyllis Pena, from Texas, US, said she had returned home from the store around 7am on January 31 when she spotted a 19-year-old in her yard.

He was allegedly looking into her daughter's bedroom window and fled the scene the moment he saw Phyllis.

The terrified mum called the police who arrived at the scene within minutes and arrested Hawkins.

Hawkins managed to slip away but was soon caught by the quick-witted mum.

Dashcam footage mounted on the Lake Jackson Police's vehicle shows Phyllis and a woman standing on the lawn in front of their house.

She positions herself and runs towards the police car when she notices Hawkins, who is wearing a dark blue jacket, running away from the officers.

Phyllis wraps her arms around the man and delivers a killer tackle, bringing Hawkins down to the ground.

While she presses pressure on top of him, her friend helps out to restrict his movement until the two police officers catch up.

Phyllis told news station KPRC: "My first instinct was just to make sure he didn't go any further.

"The cop fist-bumped me and he was like, 'Hey, so I heard the Texans are looking for a new linebacker'."

She added that her daughter heard of the suspect but did not know him personally.

Lake Jackson Police said a suspect was booked into jail and is facing charges of possession of a controlled substance, evading arrest and resisting arrest.

Authorities said more charges could also be added.
