Horace Mann School shuts down for two weeks over employee coronavirus cases

Bronx prep school Horace Mann has suspended in-person classes for students in grades 6-12 after several staffers tested positive for the coronavirus, a report said.

Four employees since last weekend were found to have contracted the illness, Bloomberg Wealth reported. Three of the cases were discovered on Monday.

Head of school Thomas Kelly announced the development in a Monday night email to parents obtained by the outlet.

“It is clear that these additional cases of positive Covid-19 do have overlap with students and employees at a level that makes me uncomfortable moving forward with in-person instruction for our Middle and Upper Division students,” Kelly wrote.

Kelly said the students affected by the in-person shutdown will learn remotely and can return to school on Oct. 19.
