Kate Middleton and William host palace party without Harry after royal split
Kate Middleton and Prince William are hosting the UK-Africa summit finale tonight – and they are without Prince Harry.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were left to host the bash at Buckingham Palace after Harry said he had “no option” than to step back from the royal family.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were originally supposed to have met African leaders at the event, but instead Will and Kate hosted, along with Edward, Sophie and Princess Anne.
It is the first time the Queen has asked William to host a major state occasion inside the palace as he gears up for his future role as King.

Addressing the 21 African delegations and their spouses, Prince William said: "My grandmother is sorry not to be here this evening, but she has asked me to pass on her warmest wishes to you all."
"The African continent holds a very special place in my heart.
"It is the place my father took my brother and me shortly after our mother died.

"And when deciding where best to propose to Catherine, I could think of no more fitting place than Kenya to get down on one knee.
"Throughout my life, I have been lucky enough to spend time in many other parts of Africa.
"I'm also honoured to be the Patron of the Royal African Society.
"And as Catherine and I have said to several of you here tonight, we hope to have the chance to visit many more countries in the future and share our mutual love of your continent with our children."
Meghan Markle returning to UK for final royal farewell with Prince Harry
The Queen was not present at the party as she is still at Sandringham following days of tense talks with officials to decide Meghan and Harry's future within the royal family.
Last week, Her Majesty said the family had found a "constructive" but "supportive" way forward with Meghan and Harry after the pair chose to step back.
She confirmed that from the spring Harry and Meghan will relinquish their HRH titles as they seek "a more independent life" in North America.
Earlier today, Harry met with heads of state at the UK-Africa Investment Summit for what will be one of his final events as a senior royal.
