LI man believes he found missing father’s bones in his basement
A Long Island man unearthed human bones in his basement on Wednesday and has a “premonition” that it’s the skeleton of his long-lost father, he told The Post on Wednesday.
Michael Carroll, 57, was digging in his Lake Grove home with his two sons on Halloween when he discovered the remains, according to Suffolk County police.
He said the bones belong to his dad, George Carroll, who vanished in 1961.
“Sometimes your premonitions tell you things,” he told The Post. “I believe it’s my dad.”
George Carroll and his wife Dorothy owned the home in the 1957, and lived there with Michael and his three siblings.
Years after George went missing, in the late 90s, Dorothy died. Michael now owns the home.
An anthropologist will be examining the remains, Suffolk County Police said, and hopefully will be able to determine whether Michael’s hunch is correct.
