Michael Schumacher’s daughter gives her first ever TV interview and recalls how she almost followed in F1 legend’s tracks
However, Gina-Maria, 21, told German broadcaster NDR she eventually chose four legs over four wheels after falling in love with horses.
The programme – Horse Adventures – focuses on her prowess in western horse-back riding, in which she is a reigning world champion.
Gina-Maria admits: “I went go karting for a season with my dad, but I preferred the horses.” She then went on to praise her mount 'Gotta Nifty Gun'.
"He is my one and only! I have never seen a horse as a machine," she said. "We ride tournaments because it's fun and do not force the horse. "
The full interview will be broadcast tonight at 8pm (UK time). It is not yet known if she talks about her father's current condition.
Her dad's health has been closely guarded since he suffered a traumatic brain injury during a skiing accident in the French Alps in December 2013.
He is being cared for at his family home in Switzerland where he continues to recover from the horror accident.
Since then the health condition of the racing legend has remained a mystery, as his family say it is "not a public matter".
His wife Corrina, 46, son Mick, 18, and Gina-Maria have rarely spoken out about what happened.
Since 2014 he has been cared for round the clock at a state-of-the-art medical centre at his family home on Lake Geneva.
The German race ace is reportedly receiving £115,000-a-week treatment from a team of 15 physicians and nurses.
