Millionaire businesswoman found entombed in concrete in her fridge
A millionaire property developer has been found dead entombed in concrete in her fridge.
Businesswoman Wannee Jiracharoenying, 58, vanished in Chiang Mai, northern Thailand, on Friday, October 18.
Her shock death is now being investigated by murder detectives after her corpse was discovered on Sunday.
Wannee’s brother Woraphan Jiracharoenying raised the alarm after she failed to reply to his messages.
Her corpse was found after neighbours complained about a “putrid smell” coming from the property.
Now cops want to speak to her friend, known only as Oom, who disappeared after the horrific tragedy.
It comes as police revealed large amounts of cash were taken from Wannee’s bank accounts after her death.
Her bank cards and car have also gone missing.
Police Major General Bundit Tungkhaseranee said they are now checking border points amid fears the friend has fled abroad.
He said: "We contacted the bank where the deceased was a customer and we received the information that the money was being withdrawn by someone after the woman was dead.
"On the day that the family lost her contact, the suspect withdrew money from the ATM in Chiang Mai then Chiang Rai and Mae Hong Son, he already withdrew 1.2 million baht – about £31,000.
"The latest information we received from the bank is that the suspect withdrew the money again but this time in Rayong, the CCTV from the ATM captured part of their face.
"We think that the culprit committed the crime aiming for her money, maybe because he heard that she always donated a large amount of money to the temple and the hospital."
Colonel Kritsana Pattanacharoen, deputy police spokesman, said that the body has been sent to Maharat Chiang Mai Hospital for identification and an autopsy.
