New York couple say they found dead RAT floating in their soup

The ratatouille special! Disgusted couple say they found dead RAT floating in their soup as they sue popular Manhattan restaurant – but owner denies claim as ‘nonsense’

  • Eunice Lucero-Lee claimed she found a rat in her soup purchased from a Koreatown restaurant she has visited for decades
  • She posted a series of photos of the rat that was seen entangled in veggies
  • Gammeeok restaurant has since pushed back against the allegations and claimed the couple has a history of reporting issues with their food

A New York City couple filed a lawsuit against a Koreatown restaurant alleging they found a dead rat floating in their soup while eating their takeout.

The series of viral photos posted by Eunice Lucero-Lee showed the rodent floating at the top of the container while entangled in what appeared to be vegetables from Gammeeok restaurant.

Lucero-Lee and her husband have ordered from the Manhattan restaurant for over a decade and haven’t had a run-in with unwanted ingredients until this weekend.

‘We ordered sogogi gukbap, which is a kind of hearty Korean beef soup,’ Lucero-Lee told NewsBreak.

Gammeeok has since pushed back against the allegations calling it ‘nonsense.’

‘If there was a mouse that big, there’s no way I wouldn’t have missed it,’ Gammeeok wrote in an Instagram post along with a kitchen surveillance video showing workers prepare the soup.

‘We checked the whole process of making the soup, but we couldn’t find any problems,’ they added.

The restaurant bashed the couple and referred to their Yelp account, which they alleged features another complaint against a restaurant made in 2016 when they found a ‘large bug’ in their soup.

‘It’s a rare experience to most people in their whole life,’ the restaurant wrote. ‘It’s a once in a lifetime thing for most people.’

When Gammeeok first received Lucero-Lee’s complaint, they allegedly offered the couple a refund and a ‘$100 gift card in the spirit of always treating customer complaints in keeping a low profile.’

But, the restaurant alleged the couple demanded $5,000 and for them to pay their hospital bill. They added the money requested later went up to $25,000.

‘After that, we said we couldn’t afford it, so we said we are going to hire a lawyer to take action,’ the restaurant wrote.

Despite Gammeeok’s pushback, Lucero-Lee urged people to avoid the restaurant at all costs

Records from the New York City Health Department showed that Gammeeok received 15 violations in the latest January 18 inspection

Despite Gammeeok’s pushback, Lucero-Lee urged people to avoid the restaurant at all costs.

‘Please don’t ever go there for your own safety,’ Lucero-Lee warned on Instagram.

Records from the New York City Health Department showed that Gammeeok received 15 violations in the latest January 18 inspection.

Several of the violations showed the restaurant lacked proper protocols for sanitation, food safety and cleanliness.

One violation listed a sanitary concern of ‘Filth flies or food/refuse/sewage associated with (FRSA) flies or other nuisance pests in establishment’s food and/or non-food areas.’

‘FRSA flies include house flies, blow flies, bottle flies, flesh flies, drain flies, Phorid flies and fruit flies,’ the violation read.

Aside from the poor ‘C’ review rating, the restaurant appears to have several fans on Yelp, who rave their food is perfect on a ‘late night.’
