PE teacher, 22, ‘had sex with teen pupil’

An Alabama teacher has been charged after she allegedly had sex with a pupil.

Catherine Lynn Coffey was apprehended and charged with engaging in a sex act with a pupil under the age of 19 and engaging in sexual contact with a student.

The 22-year-old resource and softball teacher had worked at Madison County Elementary School (MCES).

But, officers said the alleged victim attended the county’s high school.

In arresting documents, the county sheriff’s office said the alleged offences happened between August and December 2019.
