Rick Moranis tells cops to ‘catch the bad guy’ who slugged him

Rick Moranis told cops he wants them to just “catch the bad guy” who randomly sucker-punched him on the Upper West Side, an NYPD officer said Friday after visiting the actor at his home.

The “Honey I Shrunk the Kids” and “Ghostbusters” star, 67, was walking home on Central Park West near West 70th Street around 7:30 a.m. Thursday when a stranger in an “I ❤ NY” sweatshirt suddenly slugged him in the head during a caught-on-camera attack, police said.

“[Moranis] is doing well. He is strong. He is recovering,” said Detective Kaz Daughtry, one of six cops with the NYPD’s new Community Affairs Rapid Response team who checked on the actor at his Central Park West home Friday afternoon, to reporters.

“He just wants us to catch the bad guy and all this to go away,” the officer said.

Moranis suffered pain in his head, back and hip from the assault.

“He has some injuries to his left side,” said Daughtry, explaining that Moranis has “some pain on the left side of his leg.”

Officer Jonadel Dorrejo added to reporters, “At this moment, [Moranis] just wants to stay home, he just wants to recover, and he just wants, you know, peace of mind, and once he gets better, then he is going to go out and do his daily things that he usually does.”
