Screaming baby, one, in miracle escape as police chase boy racer ploughs into dad's car and flees across bonnet

A SCREAMING baby miraculously survived after a boy racer ploughed into his dad's car in a police chase.

Dashcam footage showed the moment Patrick Hoyland, 19, smashed into a police car and Aurimas Meiliūnas's car in Grantham, Lincolnshire.

Hoyland, was seen sprinting from cops and jumped over Aurimas's car bonnet.

Camera man Aurimas Meiliūnas had driven to shops with his one-year-old child in tow when Hoyland, who was driving a Honda HR-V with false number plates smashed head-on into a police car.

Hoyland attempted to drive through a red light when the collision happened on September 15.

The collision not only wrote off the Aurimas's Volvo but deployed the airbag, trapping him in the driver's seat, while he and his child screamed.

Hoyland and the other passengers escaped the wreckage and climbed over Aurimas's bonnet where the police initiated a pursuit and were later arrested.

Hoyland admitted charges of dangerous driving, having no insurance and driving while disqualified.

It’s a miracle that no-one was seriously injured let alone killed.

Additionally, he admitted to making off without payment for petrol, driving without due care and attention, according to local reports.

The 19-year-old was sentenced to 11 months in prison at Lincoln Crown Court on November 5, with an additional driving ban for two years and five months.

Recorder Graham Huston told Hoyland: “It’s a miracle that no-one was seriously injured let alone killed.

"You deliberately put the lives of other road users, including police officers, at risk. There is no excuse."

Aurimas said: "I was absolutely in shock, trapped in the vehicle, not really understanding what was just happened.

"First thing, I turned to have a look that everything was okay with my son.

"He was just scared, [it was] good that he was on the opposite side of impact.

"I’m glad the driver was arrested and get what he deserved."
