Ten people shot across NYC as gun violence surge continues

Ten people were shot across the Big Apple in nine separate incidents on Thursday and Friday, according to police.

Most recently, an 18-year-old man walked into Jacobi Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the right hand around 1:40 a.m. Friday, cops said.

He was uncooperative with authorities and gave no information on where or when he was shot, police said.

Thursday’s most recent victims — who were shot in the Bronx, Queens and Brooklyn — also suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were described as uncooperative with the police investigation, according to authorities.

Around 11:15 p.m., a 30-year-old man was blasted in the back and a 29-year-old man grazed in the head on East 137th Street near Cypress Avenue, on the grounds of NYCHA’s Mill Brook Houses in Mott Haven, according to police.

Both were taken to Lincoln Hospital.

In Far Rockaway, a 26-year-old man was shot in the leg on Beach 20th Street near Mott Avenue around 9:50 p.m.

He was taken to St. John’s Episcopal Hospital.

And just before 8:30 p.m., a 49-year-old man was shot in the ankle inside a building on Fulton Street near Marcus Garvey Boulevard in Stuyvesant Heights, cops said.

He was transported to the Kings County Hospital Center.

On Thursday alone, eight shootings were reported with nine victims, according to preliminary numbers released by police.

One of them was the fatal broad-daylight shooting of Angel Barreiro, 20, as he sat in his car on Cromwell Avenue near West 170th Street in Mount Eden around 9:45 a.m.

The suspect got out of a light blue Dodge Charger and blasted Barriero four times in the torso before taking off, police said.

On Thursday’s date in 2019, a Tuesday, three people were reported shot in two separate incidents.

This year through Sunday, there have been 1,303 shootings reported with 1,602 victims — double the incidents and victims reported last year and more than 30 percent higher than 2015, according to records from the NYPD.

Thirty-eight percent more murders have been reported year-to-date — a total of 390 — though not all were attributed to shootings.
