Terrifying moment Delta plane’s engine FALLS APART mid flight forcing it to make an emergency landing – The Sun

DRAMATIC footage shows the engine of a Delta Airlines plane falling apart mid-flight forcing the pilot to make an emergency landing.

The 32-year-old aircraft was flying from Atlanta, Georgia, to Baltimore, Maryland yesterday when passengers spotted that one of the jet engine's nose cones, or spinners, had broken off.

About an hour into the flight, passengers said they heard a loud boom followed by smoke billowing into the cabin.

Traveller Avery Porch told WMAR-TV: “It started slowing down a little bit and it was getting hot. I was about to be the first person to jump off.”

In the Twitter video, the detached spinner continues rattling while an orange glow emanates from the centre.

The flight made an emergency landing at Raleigh-Durham International in North Carolina around 2:27pm local time according to ABC News.

All 148 passengers on board were safe, it has been reported.

Delta provided its customers with a £25 food voucher while they waited for another flight.

The airline this morning said the engine had been replaced and that the plane in the video could continue to be used for commercial flights.
