Trump boasts Space Force has ‘incredible weapons’ such as ‘super duper missile’ that’s 17 TIMES faster than current tech – The Sun
DONALD Trump has touted a new "super duper missile" that he says is "17 times faster than” current technology.
The President claimed the Department of Defence is developing new “incredible military equipment" during an Oval Office ceremony on Friday.
Speaking from the White House, Donald Trump first declared a ”warp speed" production for a coronavirus vaccine, before unveiling an official flag for Space Force, the newest branch of the military.
Trump held a ceremony where the flag was unfurled, signing a proclamation denoting Armed Forces Day alongside military leaders.
Trump was presented with the flag by senior military officials, including Chief Master Sergeant in the U.S. Space Force, Roger Towberman, and Gen. Jay Raymond, head of U.S. Space Command and the Space Force, who explained the significance behind the flag's design.
He then signed the 2020 Armed Forces Day Proclamation.
Raymond explained: "The delta in the middle, that's the symbol that space communities use for years and years and years.
"The North Star signifies our core value, our guiding light, if you will."
"And the orbit around the globe signifies the space cape colors that fuel our American way of life."
President Trump went on to say space is going to be the future, “both in terms of defense and offense and so many other things.”
He claimed that "already from what I’m hearing and based on reports, we’re now the leader in space."
It was during the presentation of the flag – the first new military flag to be unveiled in 72 years – that Trump also revealed the development of a “super-duper missile.”
He said: “I call it the super duper missile, and I heard the other night seventeen times faster than what they have right now.”
Trump went on to add it would travel faster than any other in the world “by a factor of almost three.”
Following the ceremony it was noticed no-one was wearing face masks to protect from COVID-19.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has claimed his country has already developed and fielded a hypersonic nuclear missile ahead of the U.S.
