Upper East Side man’s death ruled a homicide by cops
The death of an Upper East Side man who was discovered with wounds to his head and neck — has been ruled a homicide, police and law enforcement sources said Thursday.
Cops were called to the 64-year-old man’s first-floor apartment on East 83rd Street near Lexington Avenue on Wednesday at around 5:20 p.m. after a pal went to check on the victim and found him unconscious with a head injury, authorities said.
The unresponsive man was found lying face down in the living room of the residence and medics pronounced him dead at the scene, police said.
He had a gash on his forehead, a large laceration to his neck, and several wounds to his face, sources and police said.
There was a vast amount of blood in different locations around the home, sources added.
The man’s identity was not immediately released pending family notification.
The city’s Medical Examiner will determine his cause of death.
