Cardi B is proving once again that taking risks with your makeup pays off. The rapper performed at the 2022 American Music Awards in a “washed denim” eye that almost stole the show.

“Washed denim” eye makeup is the modern, winter ’22 version of the blue eyeshadow trend from the ’60s. Celebrities like Quannah Chasinghorse, Adwoa Aboah, and Kendall Jenner have all been spotted in the “washed denim” trend, signalying just how popular the makeup look is going to be in the upcoming year. Cardi B’s version was smoked out with a black eyeshadow shade and topped off with dramatic lashes for a look that somehow felt extremely retro but fresh at the same time. Her eye look was accompanied by a ’90s spiky updo, extra-long tapered square nails, and a matching one-piece suit.
