Amanda Holden says its a good idea for Alan Carr to join BGT panel
Amanda Holden has told viewers it's a "good idea" for Alan Carr to join her on the hit ITV variety show, Britain’s Got Talent.
The comic is rumoured to be replacing former judge David Walliams, with close pal Amanda thrilled at the prospect of Alan appearing in the next series.
Speaking on Friday’s edition of The One Show, Amanda gushed about her friend as she was quizzed about who would be replacing David.
When asked about whether her new co-star Alan would be good fit for the series, she teased: "Well, watch this space."
It seems three months with the comic filming Amanda and Alan's Italian Job has not dampened the pair’s friendship.
However, The One Show host Alex Jones seemed more impressed by Amanda’s coy response and said: “That was good".
"I was really contained and found my filter," joked 51-year-old Amanda, before adding: "It's a good idea. We'll miss David but it'll be a good idea."
The mum-of-two has been sworn to secrecy about the new judge, despite reports that Alan was set to become a judge on the next series.
According to The Daily Mail, ITV executives believe the comedian would make the perfect addition to the judging panel alongside Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon and Amanda Holden.
A source has said they are “already excited” about Alan joining the series.
They told the Daily Mail: "Alan is hilarious but also kind. He tells a mean joke but he is also soft in the middle.
"The bosses are already excited about how wonderful he will be with the contestants. He will complement the panel so well too, he is really close friends with Amanda and he has known Simon and Alesha for years too.”
"Everyone involved in the show is so excited and they can't wait to get started…” they added.
Amanda and Alan have been starring in their own show on ITV, called Amanda and Alan's Italian Job on ITV. The series follows the friends transforming a holiday home in the Italian hills. and has received a warm reception from viewers.
One fan tweeted: "Binge watching Alan Carr and Amanda Holden's Italian Job on the BBC and it's making me feel so happy and warm. Absolutely stunning place- I'm obsessed with the Sicilian culture!"
