Another Islander has returned to day job after quitting fame

Love Island alum Maxwell Samuda is the latest Islander who has returned to his regular day job, choosing not to pursue a career in the limelight after his time in the villa.

The 24-year-old, who is a finance student and restaurant host, will reportedly be venturing into a profession aligned with his studies and, speaking on the Secure The Insecure with Johnny Seifert podcast, Maxwell revealed he's already lined up a job. However, he did add that he is happy to have his following from his time on the show as a back up if he ever tries his hand at influencing.

Maxwell said: "Right now the way that I see things is if I can have a bit of a combination with both of these areas at the moment then that would be amazing.

"I worked too hard throughout my undergrad and my masters to say that I'm going to have nothing to do with that now. But then I have an opportunity with like the show and social media, there's a small bit of influence if there's things that I want to create, it makes it a bit more easier to do that now."

He added that he was offered a graduate job the same day he left for the South African villa, which he has now accepted and will be starting later this year.

Maxwell was dumped from the villa on day 45 along with Olivia Hawkins, with the pair calling time on their budding romance just weeks after leaving South African as a couple.

A source told The Sun of their break up: "Although it was rumoured they’d already split they only had a proper chat about where their relationship was going yesterday, and they both agreed the writing was on the wall.

"They had fun while it lasted, and there are no hard feelings at all, but he obviously went to Mexico, and Olivia has been focusing on work projects."

The source added that the former flames had simply "drifted apart".

The split came just days after Olivia insisted she and Maxwell were busy making plans for the future. She told OK! : "I definitely see it going long-term.

"I’ve never had a boyfriend before, but I definitely see it going in that direction, for sure. I think I’ve just been way too picky in the past when it comes to guys."

Olivia was part of the original line up of the most recent series of the popular ITV2 show, and ended up first sparking up a romance with Kai Fagan, as well as getting to know Haris Namani and Tom Clare. Kai’s head was then turned by Sanam in Casa Amor and he decided to recouple. Kai and Sanam went on to be crowned as this series' winners.
