Australian reality show struck down by outbreak of THRUSH and gastro among cast with ‘tensions flaring’ as contestants struggle to film romantic scenes with the itchy affliction
An Australian reality show has been struck down due to an outbreak of thrush on set.
On Saturday, The Daily Telegraph claimed that contestants on an unnamed ‘dating show’ are struggling with yeast infections, making romantic scenes difficult.
The thrush outbreak followed a scourge of gastroenteritis among the cast, with both conditions making filming challenging.

The Daily Telegraph has reported that representatives for Channel Nine, Seven and Ten denied that the outbreaks happened on the sets of Love Island, Beauty and The Geek, Heartbreak Island or The Real Love Boat.
It is unknown which show has been afflicted with the conditions, but the paper claims that ‘a large number of cast and crew… became stricken with thrush while on location in recent weeks’.
The report goes on to say that ‘tensions are said to have then flared’ after contestants were told to abstain from alcohol while being treated for the ailments.

Thrush is a very common infection caused when a yeast called Candida albicans, which normally lives at manageable levels in the body, overgrows inside the vagina.
Symptoms include intense itching, thick discharge and redness and soreness.
Treatments include a choice of anti-yeast pessaries or creams which can be bought over the counter.
